Apalachee Revival at Mission San Luis

Their native heritage was never completely forgotten. Today, that Apalachee heritage is recognized by the Smithsonian Institution. The City of Tallahassee and Leon County have officially recognized the Louisiana Apalachee as descendants of Florida's native peoples. The Louisiana Apalachee are seeking recognition from the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs but it is a very long and difficult process.
